Chelsea- hello! Is your hubby applying to all these schools for med school? My husband is currently in med school at the University of Nevada (Reno) and he has really liked it. the class is a little smaller than others so there is a lot interaction with the professors. Reno is a fun little town- if you like the outdoors then you will love living by Lake Tahoe- it's gorgeous and there is so much to do! It is also only three hours from San Francisco so that is fun for weekend trips. The medical program also has the option to do years 3 and 4 in Vegas (if you want). The one down side is that they mostly only take Nevada residents so as a Utah resident the chances of getting accepted are slim. Anyway, good luck! Where you guys go will be a great adventure!
Chelsea, this is Suzy. . . from Chi-o! We are in Chicago and love it. The winter is cold and kinda long, but doesn't bother me too much. I would love to have you here!
GO UC Davis!!! What can I say...we will be right nextdoor (hopefully) and it's the best location! 1.5 hours from Tahoe, 1.5 hours from San Fran., and only a 8.5 hour drive from SLC! Plus bo brutal winters and lots of hot summers:)
Any of the DC schools are awesome, and they are in seriously the coolest city in America!! You guys will love it here in DC! I am going to miss it so much, but it will be so much easier to leave if I know I can come back anytime to visit you guys!! Pete and I are deciding amongst Indianapolis, Hampton Roads VA, Phoenix, San Antonio, or Irvine CA. In a couple of those cities, we might match....Like Irvine is really close to UC Davis and UCSD, and Eastern Virginia and UNC are both really close to Hampton Roads. Anyway, I hope we both end up in the same state!! I guess the odds are slim, but I can hope, right?!
That is awesome chels! I'm so sad you will soon be leaving us, but I'm so excited for you guys in this endeavor! We're praying for ya!
Hey! This is Nancy from church. I came across your blog on Annette's blog. My vote is University of Kentucky. I lived in Lexington for 5 years and loved it! There are a lot of young marrieds that live there that are in dental or med school, which would be great for you guys. Lexington has more restaurants than any city I have ever lived! So many good ones. The church is really strong. The cost is living is better than Utah. Housing is amazingly inexpensive, especially to buy. I would live there again in a heartbeat. Let me know if you need any info. I'd be happy to help out.
Eric and I live an hour from Richmond, where VCU is. Richmond is great. Sara Jacobs Dunn is there right now, her hubby is in dental school. They love it.
Where is U of Michigan on the list???
It would be so fun to have you guys out here. The midwest really isn't as bad as everyone says it is if you're willing to add this to your list. Although Chicago is only 4 hours from here. Good luck with applying and stuff.
well we think you should come to Albany. That way we would be close! :) How did the mcat go? Keep us posted!
My vote is for drexel or Thomas Jefferson!! haha We love Philly and think that the people here are awesome...You guys will be wonderfully needed in any place you go!
Hope all is well!
thats a lot of schools! good luck choosing! once again from:Cicely by the way, I got braces!
UNC Chapel Hill...beautiful there. If you go, get into the sports! It's huge there, I personally hate UNC and love, love, love Duke!
U of Hawaii...can't go wrong there. I have family there if you need a tour to get you started in the area. Everything is just more expensive.
Good luck choosing! It's a hard choice.
Hey Chelsea,
I came upon your blog while looking at our friends other blogs. Anyways, I hope you don't mind...This is Liz Veasy, now Halaufia.
You look amazing, like you always have.
I was redaing this post and I thought I would let you know Virginia Commonwealth area is nice. I lived there for about 1 year and it has similar weather to Utah, Great historical sites ( way too many)to gain an education for your boy, An east coast mentatlity, and reasonably priced area. We lived about 5 minutes away from Williamsburg Area around the Virginia Beach Penninsula.
As for Nashville, we are located in Memphis right now and have been back and forth from there so many times. We actually lived there for a month or two...and I loved it there. You have a mixture of the Southern Hospitality with the Northern Flare. Every one is kind, the prices are resonable, warmer weather than Utah. It gets hot and humid out here but stays in the upper 40s and above all year.
I am so glad to see you are doing well!
Congrats!
